Sudan Trade Integrity Policy Brief
The lack of financial integrity continues to pose a serious threat to the Sudanese economy. On the 29th of November 2020, following passage of the “Sudan Democratic Transition, Accountability, and Fiscal Transparency Act of 2020” by the US House of Representatives, Prime Minister Abdalla Hamadok announced that financial transparency and accountability is an imperative requirement to uplift the Sudanese economy and the foreign trade sector.
This paper provides an analysis of the challenge of trade integrity by looking at its magnitude on the Sudanese trading sector. In addition, it highlights the gaps and inconsistencies of records relative to the Sudanese trading sector and concludes by calling for an adjustment to Sudanese trade laws and internal regulations.
